The Victorian Alps
Victoria, Australia

The Victorian Alps expands from Canberra through to Victoria and is well known for the 655km Australian Alpine Walking Track. A favourite town of mine that is fast becoming the Australian hub of skyrunning is Bright, already established as a road cycling haven it is now home to the first Australian skyrunning championship race; The Buffalo Stampede.

What makes this area so unique is the diversity of the environments that you can traverse. From the pine needle forests of Mount Mystic, the rock gardens of Mount Buffalo or the exposed climbing of Mount Feathertop that can be linked on an amazing track called ‘The razorback ‘to another iconic peak; Mount Hotham, this can also be undertaken in the race Running Wild’s ‘Razorback run’.

Whilst running out on these tracks don’t be surprised to encounter countless Kangaroos, wallabies and Kookaburras- but watch out for the snakes!
